Bhutan is the first country to introduce stamps which are made from steel.This small Himalayan nation is very much famous for its philatelic issues. Stamps issued by Bhutan post are the most innovative ones. Bhutan ranks first amongst other nations to issue unusual stamps.
The steel stamps of Bhutan, is one such example. Shortly after Bhutan got recognition as an independent state Bhutan released a new issue of Steel Stamps.
The stamp sheet of 12 stamps was issued in 1969. The stamps come with different denominations. They depict life and culture of contemporary Bhutanese people.
The designs were created by the Walt Disney Company and produced by the United States Steel Corporation
